Your wedding day should feel like it expresses you as a couple, and we are 100% here for couples who embrace a little quirkiness when they do that, because your wedding should also be a ton of fun! And Breanne and Jim made sure to do that by literally building their wedding theme... with LEGO blocks!! From party favors to centerpieces, attire like the bride's garter and especially her shoes, we are loving all the fun blue and white details this couple incorporated into their day! Plus... a piñata and tacos for dinner!
From the bride: I've wanted a LEGO wedding for years, way before I met my husband, because, well, LEGO. When talking it over with Jim, we decided that it worked particularly well for the two of us, and we used the phrase "building our life together, brick by brick". Trying to keep the wedding from looking like a child's birthday party, we used only royal blue and white LEGO to class it up. So much LEGO and everything was DIY. We had centre pieces made of glass vases with LEGO suspended in gelatin (which was not easy) and we had a piñata (which my parents also had at their wedding) made by my mother. We had all sorts of photos of the two of us scattered throughout the venue, and custom monogrammed (a big thank you to my Cricut machine) a bunch of umbrellas for our guests to use during the ceremony.
From Jelger & Tanja Photography // Breanne and Jim had such a unique wedding day! Breanne is a wedding and event planner in Vancouver, who specializes in DIY weddings. So of course most of her wedding decor was DIY, even including the catering! The main theme of their wedding: “Building our life together, brick by brick”, with blue and white LEGOs. It represents their fun and creative personalities. The bride made her own LEGO shoes, as well as earrings. The couple's guest book, were blue and white puzzle pieces for the guests to write on. The couple's cake was in the theme as well: a LEGO piece with vanilla coconut flavour, surrounded by fun coloured cupcakes and blue and white chocolate lego blocks.
Another unique event was the wedding piñ ata, that decided it didn't want to break unless being beaten with a hammer. It had little bags with lego candy inside. Breanne and Jim have a long running joke between the two of them where they hide hammers from each other in unexpected places in their house. Breanne took it to the next level and hid a hammer in her garter belt! Jim's face when he discovers it is priceless!
